Sport hallux valgus corrector that relieves pain and realigns the big toe during sports.
Indications for sport hallux valgus correctorIs your hallux valgus painful in your sports shoes and hampering your performance?
EPITACT® hallux valgus corrector relieves joint pain and repeated contact with the "bunion" during sport. It is designed to dynamically realign the big toe when walking or running. By straightening your big toe, it improves the quality of your stance, the propulsion phase and your performance.
The effectiveness of the hallux valgus sport corrective device is based on its unique pattern, which helps to realign the big toe joint during walking. To achieve this, it incorporates an EPITHELIUMFLEX™ external silicone tendon that both exerts traction on the big toe to straighten it and protects the bony outgrowth from pressure and friction in the shoe.
Check that your big toe is still laterally mobile (mild to moderate stage).
Wash the sport orthosis before using it for the first time.
The level of correction can be adjusted by applying greater or lesser tension to the tendon on your foot: on the first day, do not attempt to correct the big toe. Then, for 10 days, gradually correct the deviation by pulling the device backwards.
Do not use the hallux valgus sport corrector on a skin lesion.
Do not use if the big toe is no longer laterally mobile.
For people with diabetes, arteritis, polyneuritis, neuropathy of the lower limbs or varicose ulcers: ask your doctor or chiropodist for advice, and monitor your foot during use.

How do I care for my hallux valgus corrector?
Sport hallux valgus corrector is machine-washable at 30°C or hand-washable (without rubbing) with soap and water. Do not chlorinate. Do not iron or steam. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry-clean. Discard and replace as soon as gel cracks appear, or fabric or seams deteriorate.
Hallux valgus is a deformity of the big toe. The big toe tilts inwards, while the first metatarsal deviates outwards. Gradually, the end of this bone, called the metatarsal head, protrudes to the side of the foot, forming a bony bump: the "bunion". Hallux valgus is an irreversible deformity; it cannot disappear over time.
How do I choose the right size?
Using a tape measure, measure the circumference of your foot just before the "bunion". Then transfer the measurement to the size guide. If you hesitate between two sizes, choose the smaller one.
Is the hallux valgus sport corrector compatible with orthopedic insoles?
If you already wear orthopedic inserts, consult a healthcare professional (doctor or podiatrist). Depending on the reason for which the insoles are prescribed, the combination of a hallux valgus corrective device may "overcorrect" the deformity.
Can they cause irritation?
Allergies to silicones or to hallux valgus sports orthosis fabrics are rare. Like all medical devices, the brace has been assessed for biocompatibility. However, contact of silicone with the skin may cause superficial irritation/reddening. As the product contains textiles, washing is recommended before use.
